  • Introduction of notebook PCs, email and other company systems to the home-based consultant population.
  • Implementation and maintenance of Microsoft Servers including Exchange and SQL
  • Introduction of Great Plains financial system, including the Project Accounting module to replace the existing bespoke in-house financial system.
  • Development of bespoke software to support key business processes.
  • Introduction of GoldMine CRM package.
  • Relocation of the headquarters office (twice).
  • Development of a web-based project management tool (Coverdale Project Director).
He was also trained to work as a coach/consultant on the company's Team Work and Project Management workshops and worked in this regard with a variety of clients.

In September 2002 Paul left his employment with Coverdale to start his own IT consulting business, Brite Consulting Ltd. The relationship continues and Brite now deliver Coverdale's IT development and support as a supplier.

Over the past two years he has delivered a variety of different pieces of consultancy work, including:
  • Providing strategic advice and support to small businesses in the role of part-time IT manager.
  • Acting as the internal project manager for a construction company implementing the Project Accounting module of Great Plains.
  • Devising and managing the implementation of a CRM system for a small business in the health therapy sector.
  • Project managing a Great Plains implementation for a multi-national software house and a UK health sector supplier.
  • Project managing and implementing a Virtual Private Network and improved head-office systems access for 60 remote workers for a wine and spirits brand retailing organisation.

Personal and relevant skills

The following comments are typical of feedback Paul has received about his performance and approach.
  • Paul has a natural ability to talk to technical and non-technical people alike. He is particularly strong in helping non-technical people to understand complex technical issues without using jargon.
  • Further to the technical skills, he demonstrated a distinctive competency in supporting the current culture through technological change, enabling people to embrace the new systems without fear or resistance.
  • He has a common sense approach to all of the work he is involved in. His joined-up thinking enables him to pull together a variety of information into a cohesive solution or clear strategy for getting to one.
  • Unlike many people who deal with technology, he takes steps to ensure that systems are consistent with company strategy and will support future progress.
In his spare time Paul enjoys spending time with his family.
